What's Addie been up to?

Addelyn has been in our lives for over two weeks now. She's had her two week check up and weighed in at 9 pounds 1 ounce and the doctor says she's doing great!
We've been busy figuring out how this precious little girl fits into our lives. We're tag teaming the sleepless nights, trying to remember everything that goes into the diaper bag, and are constantly amazed how fast time goes by between feedings. Here are a few pics of our growing baby girl and her second week of life.

Lots of sleeping.
We couldn't get the pic right side up on this one.
Addelyn is watching the turtles on the mobile above her play yard...
so we decided to get her a play gym. Hmmm...we'll keep working on this one.

She loves to sleep on Papa.
Addie attended her first art and jazz festival in Benicia this weekend!
She was pretty content taking in the music and the sights.
Enjoying some sun while trying to keep the baby girl shaded.

More of our baby girl!

She's already changing so much and we are trying to soak up every minute of it. Addelyn smiles, hums when she's feeding and makes little squeaks when she's completely content (Daddy thinks they sound like bird chirps) and we always know when Addie has a poopy diaper. Who knew a baby's tiny bottom could be so loud?!?

We just missed a big smile on this one.
Proud Papa!
Our little chicks first bath with Mommy.
Bentley gently sniffed her then laid down right beside her. We think they'll have lots of fun together.
Our little red head! So far she's taking after mommy, I'm going to have to get my strawberry blond back!

She's Here!!!

Addelyn Ann Widmer arrived 07.08.09 and we couldn't be more blessed! She weighed 7lbs. 13 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. We love her so much!

Kevin Wins

It's now 9:00 pm on my due date and we just got back from a long walk around the Suisun Marina. There is still no new signs telling us baby Addelyn is on her way. So it looks like Kevin wins; he is the one person who voted for her to come sometime after her due date! I guess she's already a daddy's girl. Sorry Grandpa Baker!
I found this article today and thought it depicted my thoughts and feelings so well for the time being and for any of you momma's who've seen your due date come and go you will be able to relate as well!

What To Do When You're Overdue
by Ericka Lutz

"You're having a baby? When?!?" From the minute your urine turned the little stick pink or the nurse called with the news, (for some women, from the second of conception), every event of your pregnancy has focused towards one magic moment in the future: your due date. It's been emblazoned on your calendar and your co-workers' memories; it's practically been tattooed on your forehead. Well now the future is here. It came, it went, and you're still here waiting. And waiting.

All your friends and family are waiting, too. Your bags are packed (you check the contents daily). They sit, sullen and neglected, by the front door. The "happy day" has come and gone, the bus left without you, and, even though you know that only five percent of all women deliver on their due dates, you feel cheated, robbed, over-anxious, chomping at the bit. You've been handed a rain check for the World Series. The big bobsled race has been delayed because of gale winds. . . you get the idea.

Here you sit, a great big lump of a woman, bigger than you ever thought you could possibly be, all dressed up with no place to go. Well, not even dressed up—those once-cute maternity duds have turned to stretched-out, stained rags, but you're NOT buying another outfit now. If this is your first child, you've been waiting for months (perhaps your whole life) to be initiated into the mysteries of womanhood but now, instead of gazing into the beautiful milky eyes of a newborn, you're seeing your OB-GYN so often that you can predict her shoe wardrobe rotation.

Remember way back when, a couple of months ago, when you had that sudden moment of sheer horror realizing that something the size of a cantaloupe (the baby's head) was going to HAVE to get out of a rather sensitive hole currently the size of a teaspoon. Well, now you're way past caring. It's gotta come out. If that's the only way, well then, you'll DEAL with it. AS SOON AS SOMEBODY LETS YOU!! Meanwhile, everybody keeps telling you, "Enjoy your freedom while you still have it," "Get a lot of rest, you're going to need it!" and other inane (and accurate) comments. Can't they understand you're primed, ready to rumble?

Hopefully our last hoo-ra! (for a little while anyways)

We had a busy weekend which was good to get our mind semi-off of Addelyn's unpredictable arrival. We did some fishin' and relaxing on the boat, had friends over for a bar-b-q and some "Mexican" horseshoes, and ended the weekend with Allie's 2 year old birthday party!

We'll be waitin' for Shel and Ryan to settle the score!

Bentley loves to sniff, bark, and kiss the fish before Kevin throws them back in.
