luke & liam

After our friends, Nate, Mel, Uncle Alan and John visited over the weekend for NASCAR, my brother, sister-n-law, and nephews rolled into town. We love our family and friends and are so fortunate they make the trek to visit us!
This visit was an extra special one though, because it marked Luke and Liam's first meeting! They were born less than a month apart and I can't wait to watch them play together and enjoy each other as much as Marek and Addie do.

Princess Addelyn dining with Prince Marek.
There was so much laughter!

Kevin showed Brent how to make some homebrew. Brent has already called us to see how it's coming along! Ha! Ha!
The boy cousins.
I'm sure these pictures are the only time Luke WASN'T smiling. That baby boy smiled at everything!

This was our last night together at Picnic in the Park in Davis. It was a perfect ending to a great visit!

a collection of smiles

Contagious. I know.

d is for dinosaurs

We are skipping over C for now, because it will be C for camping and Kevin wants to camp out with her in our backyard but we just haven't quite had a good night for that. So on to D! I wish I could say I had some cool dinosaur bones that she dug up in our backyard, but I just didn't quite have it together. We enjoyed our annual donuts for breakfast though and learned all about different kinds of dinosaurs from a few books I reserved from the library. I got our cute dinosaur activities from here at the Over the Big Moon blog.

b is for birds

Today we learned all about birds and went down the road to our local rescue center. We were greeted by Tom the Turkey in the parking lot and Addie tried to chase him down to get in a little pet, but no such luck. We got to see many types of birds and Addie got extra special treatment and got to see the volunteers feeding a baby raccoon!
The night before we had some very mature bananas, so I thought to make some banana bread for her B breakfast! We also got our activities from the Homeschool Creation website and you can find them here. Last, I had her do a sound sort on the pocket chart with the previous days A's and today's B's. She did great! So proud of you Addie-girl!

a is for astronaut

I've finally got my plans brewing for our summer pre-preschool! I decided to start this summer off with a bang and took the kids to the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland, where we learned all about astronauts and more. I thought I was crazy for trying to take a two year old and a two month old on a 45 minute drive to a museum, where I wouldn't have the luxury of chasing Addie around through crowds, but it was a great day! The museum wasn't very busy, Addie had a great time checking out all of the exhibits and Liam enjoyed looking up at all of the sights from his stroller! I'm hoping these little outings will continue to go as smooth! Keep your fingers crossed for us!
If you want to follow along, I printed our astronaut activities from the Homeschool Creation website. Here's the link!
We are floating in a spaceship! Too fun!
My handsome sweet boy just taking in all of the sights at the museum!

daddy's day

For Father's Day, Addie and I decided to add to Kevin's birdhouse collection. If you've ever been in our backyard, you've probably noticed the variety of birdhouses/feeders we have. So, with much love, Addie and I painted a birdhouse for Kevin. Our plans didn't stay a surprise long though and as soon as Kevin got home from work that Wednesday, she shouted out what she had done that day! Too cute!
On Father's Day, we celebrated the amazing father Kevin is by giving him a few other gifts, a special breakfast, a day at a bar-b-que and music festival, and dinner at one of our fav restaurants. We had an easy-going, perfect family day, that couldn't have been complete without him!

two months old

Today I started packing away some of his Newborn and 3 month clothing and it killed me dead! I know this goes by so fast and I'm doing everything I know to do to soak it up and enjoy, just hoping somehow it will slow down and yet it is still flying by!

At Liam's two month well check, he weighed 13 pounds 2 ounces (83%) and he's 24 3/4 inches long (96%). After a lengthy conversation about immunizations with our nurse practitioner, I chose to get all of the recommended ones, which meant three shots (a total of eight different immunizations). He scram. I cried. And later he refused to nurse. I cried some more and so did he. It was a rough couple of days.

Thankfully he is back to his sweet, smiley and hungry self.

funny girl

How adorable and funny is this little girl?! She's giving Rody and Minnie Mouse (in the high chair) lunch. She dressed herself and hauled all of these toys out to her table. When she seemed content with her set up, I started snapping away trying to capture Addie being Addie. When she saw me taking pictures of her, she grabbed her camera and started taking pictures of me. Can you just hear her saying "CHEEEESE!"?
Love her big.

smiling for daddy

love this too...

love this boy

I love it when...
  • he hasn't heard my voice for a while, and when he hears it, he gets a big grin and starts pumping his arms and legs.
  • he makes sweet sounds while nursing and when he's really hungry, he latches on like a puppy dog getting his toy! Makes me laugh every time! (Not looking forward to teeth!)
  • he lays on the blanket outside with me and coos at the trees overhead.
  • we go grocery shopping together on Saturday mornings. He's as peaceful as can be and you'd hardly know he's in the cart, but I adore every bit of his presence and take little peeks at my sweet sleeping baby boy while shopping.
  • he makes a little sound, wiggles into position and closes his eyes to snuggle into me and fall asleep.
