Easter Egg Hunt Number Three

For our final Easter Egg Hunt, we went over to our neighbors' and Addie hunted eggs with Cameron!
Cam is strategizing and Addie has her game face on!

After our visit at the neighbor's, we finished off the festivities with an Easter dinner. I fixed my first ham, potato gratin and steamed asparagus. It turned out pretty good, so I thought I'd share the recipes, plus I won't forget them if I link them here. Just click on the words and it will take you to website I got them from!

Easter Bunny Stops By

While Addie Ann took her afternoon nap, the Easter Bunny stopped by. After putting her basket together, he left it, along with a trail of eggs on his way out the door.

Addie Peed In Her Potty!

Easter morning Addie decided she wanted to go pee-pee in her potty chair! So proud of our girl!

Spring Break at the Beach

We tagged along with Daddy and headed down to the Pismo Beach area. If you read my previous post, you will know it was a bitter sweet trip; full of highs and a few more lows than I can appreciate. So goes life with an almost two year old I suppose. Here's some pictures of the highs though!
We found a quaint, little zoo in Atascadero.
It was perfect, while Kevin visited his surrounding customers.
After the zoo, we walked next door to a great park, complete with ducks to share our 'nacks' with.
Addie spies the 'wings' and she's making a run for them in this picture!

And Cue the Terrible Two's

Addelyn Ann,

You are now 21 months and pretty darn close to 24 months. I love you so much but I am tired. Most days we have at least two meltdowns. You kick and turn over just about every time we're in the middle of changing your poopy diaper. And it seems no amount of distraction can get you in your carseat or shopping cart peacefully, when you've decided you don't want to be there. You tell me what you want for a 'nack' and after I get it for you, you cry 'no goldfish' (or whatever it was you wanted in the first place). Next you throw yourself on the floor in a dramatic mess. We've made a rule to hold hands when we are in parking lots or Mama holds you, yet you don't seem to like either of those choices. And recently, you almost got us kicked out of our hotel room because you refused to go to sleep.

I know we are going to look back on this post and giggle, but until then can you help your Mama out?! My job is to keep you safe, and I promise it's all for your own good. I have yet to forget a quote from a book I received from Auntie Pam my first Mother's Day...it reads, "Lord, help me to be a mother...who loves to say yes, but who loves enough to say no."

Well bug, I love you more than enough!
Your Mama

Grammy and Dale Come to Visit

We picked up Grammy and Dale on Friday and kicked off our weekend with Addelyn's first Easter Egg Hunt at the Nutree Parkway. It was a little chaotic but fun watching her gather her eggs.
After the Easter egg hunt we managed to hit the annual Medieval Festival again (this time unintentional). We had lunch and played at the park in downtown Vacaville.
After Addie's nap we took the boat for a spin, then pulled into the marina for some scrumptous dinner at the Cast Iron Grill.
On Sunday we went on a double date to Sonoma!
We had great weather, great wine, and great company!
Happy in the kitchen with Mom, gettin' the food ready for Sunday night's dinner on the grill!

Addie's Palate

We have quite the adventurous eater and we love to see what she's gonna like next! Here's a little list of what Addie's palate prefers.
  • Instead of Mama's pear apple crepes she wants Daddy's Spanish omelette topped with spicy salsa.
  • Instead of a cheese quesadilla she wants a burrito bowl complete with yet more salsa, sour cream and "abacado."
  • And no chicken strips for this girl, she prefers Mama and Daddy's gourmet Buddha burgers, loaded with Worchester sauce, garlic, chopped onions and olives, and bar-b-que sauce.
  • Hot dogs? Ehhh...Addelyn Ann loves sundried tomato chicken sausages, especially dipped in dijon mustard.
  • Her and Kim's (our nanny) favorite lunch is Trader Joe's pot-stickers.
  • And I swear she knows the difference between knock-off goldfish and Pepperidge Farms.
Enjoying her Pugilese bread dipped in olive oil.

The Great Outdoors

We did lots of bar-b-queing this weekend, we went fishing on the boat and topped the weekend off with a hike to Hidden Falls (a hike I learned about from a co-worker's blog). It was so great to play in the sun!

Addie has become our little rock collector. We let her walk for the last part of the hike and she couldn't stop admiring and picking up the rocks. When I showed her that she could put them in her pockets, it was all over and Kevin and I had to strategize on how to get her back in the pack so we could make it back before dark. It was so fun to watch her explore.
