you've been booed!

After Addie's dance lessons and during Liam's afternoon nap, Addie and I went around to our friends' homes and booed them! What's boo-ing you ask??? Well...we printed off some cute signs that say "We've been Booed!", put together a little treat, set it on our friends' doorstep, rang the doorbell (or knocked) and RAN!!! We had so much fun and giggled all the way back to the car! Addelyn was a little confused at first but soon got the hang of it! So much fun! I hope to continue the tradition.
First, we went to the McMillen's! You can kind of see Tank, their dog, on the other side of the fence wondering what on earth we were doing!
Liam was enjoying his nap in the car as we ran up to the doors.
Here we are at the Hulbert's. We had just had dance class with the girls, who had given Addie and Liam sweet little Halloween treats. We told them we had treats for them too, but they would have to be surprised later.
And last the Linnet's!

baby animals, pumpkins, tractor rides...

love, love Impossible Acres! This is our third year of visiting this sweet little farm! I can't wait for Liam to be able to enjoy all that it has to offer next year!
The baby goats (kids) were so tiny this year! I forget how cute they are!
Sweet duckling.
Love to the baby bunny.
What's a farm without piglets?!
Kitty lover like her Daddy.
Mr. Blue Eyes
A pat for the pony.
Country girl!
Smiles for the baby chick.
We ended our visit with a tractor ride around the farm. Addie was actually very happy about this even though her face is telling a different story in this picture.

balloon

There is not a lot of activities that all four of us (even Bentley) can participate in together. But this simple balloon has brought us hours of family entertainment!

and addie's first time at the dentist

Yes, this is how she strolled into the dentist office. Sunglasses on and about five random necklaces around her neck. She would have taken them off, if I had asked her to but I just couldn't bare to ask her. I just thought she looked so cute and in true Addie form!
She did very good up until about the point they started talking about polishing her teeth. But Dr. Roth was able to look at her teeth and her bite and said everything looks perfect! So we'll come back in about a year and see if we can get a polish in!

addie's first dance class!

We've been meaning to start up dance class for quite some time now but kept having conflicts. So we finally made it! Addelyn loved it! There were only her and her friends, Allie and Paige that day, so it was a great environment for a first class.
First, the girls did tap and then they practiced some jazz. They also got to wear belly-dancing skirts for a little extra jingle. Last, the mamas got to come in and dance too. Such fun!

This one cracks me up because you can see Jen, Liam and I in the window!
Thanks Allie and Paige for showing Addie the ropes!

bay area discovery museum

It was a hot day inland, so I thought it would be perfect to head to the city for some cooler weather and play at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. This is such a cool place! It's right under the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito and there are old military buildings that have different themes and activities in each one.
Here we are having a picnic lunch before we set off to play! Lovely pose Addie!
Here Addie made some art.
This it the "tot room" where Liam got to play in a "pond," which was really like a water bed.

Addie got to dress up as a sting ray and played with some other kids dressed up as sea otters.

And this was about the time I started giving Addie the count-down, so we could make our journey back home. Such a sweet and simple day with my kiddos.

y is for yarn

We're almost there! My plan is to do Z this coming week! For letter Y we did a lot of repeating from last year. I don't think she remembered and was just as pleased as ever to do the letter of the day! I found the activities at Confessions of a Homeschooler

x is for xylophone

X is also for x-rays and I just so happened to have some from my teaching stash. So I pulled them out and we talked about all the bones in our body. Liam was able to join in too with his skeleton pj's! Hopefully after all this talking about bones, it will ease some of the scariness related to skeletons that we're seeing this time of year.
Later that day we went to the Bay Area Discovery Museum where they had some really cool xylophones! We love this museum and had a great day! Here's where I got the x-ray activities.

half birthday

If Liam had been a girl, his middle name would have been Joy (after my Auntie Pam) and I can't think of a better word for him. I know it might be cliche, but he absolutely brings so much joy to our family. If it weren't such a feminine name, I might have to give him a second middle name. He would be Liam James Joy Widmer!

In no particular order, here are some ways this six month old brings his Mama joy..
  • the little swirl pattern on the left side of his hairline
  • his ease to smile and giggle
  • the new high-pitch yoddle he makes
  • his round face, the shape of his eyes, his button nose and red hair
  • the fact that he shares all of these features with his sister
  • how trees and their leaves blowing in the breeze still catch his attention and mesmorize him
  • the sounds, not cries, he makes after he wakes up from a nap and is ready for me to come and get him
  • carrying him around in the pack and kissing the top of his head
  • how he grabs his toes and gets them in his mouth
  • the fact that he still has no teeth!
  • how easily he falls asleep on car rides
  • how he giggles at me when I say "mama" in a low voice
At Liam's six month check up he was 28.5 inches long (94th) and 19.12 pounds (70th).

happy birthday daddy!

We love you so much!

larry's pumpkin patch

This last weekend we spent some time at Larry's Pumpkin Patch! Love, love pictures of my kids at the pumpkin patch! I laughed and told Kevin, we don't really come for pumpkins, we come for pictures!

community helper

At preschool this last week, Addie learned about community helpers and got to dress up like one on Thursday. I already knew what she was going to be, because it was the only "community helper" costume we owned. But I asked her what she wanted to be anyways, just to see what she'd say. Can you guess what she wanted to dress up as? Ummm...yah a princess is not quite a "community helper" Addie-girl.
Dr. Addie off to school!

bathtime

I know bathing two at one time isn't going to last forever, so I snapped some pictures of my sweet naked babies.

half a dozen years

September 30th, 2012 marked six years of married life together. We were looking forward to having a simple night together, nothing fancy or crazy, just the two of us, but...our babysitter canceled. So we went to dinner with the kids on the 29th and very early on the 30th Kevin flew out for a trade show. Very anticlimactic. We barely even did presents for each other this year. But...I know this is no representation of the quality of our marriage, only an ebb in the ebbs and flows of marriage. In other words, I'm so grateful to be married to this man and would chose him all over again. I think he feels the same...at least that's what his card said.
Where we were six years ago today...out honeymoon in Tahiti.
