out and about in the rain

Just wanted to remember this simple and sweet day running errands out in the rain with my two littles.
Sharing the umbrella, which is such a novelty here in California!
Grocery shopping at Trader Joes.

Yikes! Watch your heels!

ahoy there matees!

It was Pirate Day at preschool! Last year, I tried to make a pirate costume and it couldn't have been more clear that my mom's amazing sewing skills did not get passed down to me. (No pictures because she actually woke up sick on this day last year.) This year Amazon came to the rescue. Here's our little preschool pirate!

bunnies

I got the brilliant idea to add live bunnies to my Spring Photo Sessions, so in the meantime we got to experience what it might be like to have a bunny or two as a pet. I have to admit, I had no intention of keeping them or getting attached, but I should've known, that was not realistic, especially for our little animal lover.
Although, I was able to sell them easily on Craigslist and I do not miss the stinky cage that needed to be cleaned every other day and I felt terrible for putting Addie through the heartbreak. Kevin and I agreed that we will think more about bringing a bunny into our home when Addie and Liam get a little bit older. (When they can clean the cage! ; )) As for the photo sessions, they went great! Will I do it again next year? Probably not.

first day of spring hike

I try to plan a field trip once a month for my homeschooling families and welcome other friends too. This month was a hike up at Rockville Hills and it was a perfect spring day just for that! We had a picnic lunch at the top by the lake and the kids had a great time catching tadpoles, fish and even a frog. Addie was completely in her element and I could barely pull her away from catching the tadpoles and fish. Liam on the other hand, is still not as excited about unpredictable wild animals but we'll keep working on him and hopefully one day he'll enjoy it just as much as his big sister!

loved and cherished

Addie and Liam when you grow up and have significant others, I hope that the person you have found understands the value of truly knowing you. I hope they know how to celebrate you and make you feel special. On my 34th birthday, that is exactly what you dad did. I got to spend my morning and afternoon with you both, but your dad had made plans for us that evening.
That night, he took me to a local winery with live music and while we enjoyed the wine, music and people watching, we started  discussing where to eat dinner, I remembered I had left a birthday coupon for a restaurant in Benicia at home and was bummed. Your dad, calm as usual, just asked where else I'd like to go. I thought about it for awhile and kept coming back to a quaint, but spendy restaurant near the winery. We had only been here once before you were born Addie and I didn't want to be too greedy, but I cautiously threw the idea out to your dad. He said, "okay."
As we parked, I noticed an antique/2nd-hand shop that I've always wanted to go to, was open across the street. We pursued all the treasures and when I had enough, we walked across the street to this little fancy restaurant, Mankas Corner. As we stepped inside your dad said "I have reservations for 6pm." I was floored! I looked down at my watch and that was the exact time, but this had been your dad's plan all along. He had made reservations several days ahead of time. I don't think I even needed to eat one bite, just this simple and thoughtful act was one of the best gifts I had ever received! He thought of me. He knew me. He loves me. Addie and Liam this is my hope for you, that one day you will know how it feels to be known and to be loved.

cousin luke turns two!

We got to see family and celebrate Luke! Happy Birthday Luke! We love you so much buddy!

Leeanne put together a cute little scavenger hunt for all the kids!

While we were there I got to set up shop and take a few pics of this adorable and oh-so-loveable birthday boy!

wannabe cowgirl

Wannabe cowgirl, that would be me! I love me some country music and some cowgirl boots! I think someone might follow in my footsteps...

Love her blankie rigged up to be her cape and her princess crown created by her own little four-year old fingers!

Yes, that says "I love Mommy" I 'm going to have to remember this picture when she's about 13.
