Our last stop in Oregon was to find this year's family Christmas tree. We went to Northern Lights Tree Farm and took a hayride out to cut down our tree. Much more exciting than last year's Home Depot excursion.Either we are one angelic family or our lens is fogged up. I'm thinkin' angelic. Aaaaaaaa!
See...we are just radiating! So glad to have Granny, I mean Grammy, along with us on this adventure.
My family will appreciate this "Gretchen" picture.
We are so thankful to get to see Kevin's parents, who came down from Olympia to see us. Addelyn Ann sure hammed it up and had a great visit with Gramma Jody and Grandpa Bill.
Our first and probably last Duck Game of the season. All the more reason I cherished and gladly endured every minute of freezing, rainy weather. I know it's cheesy, but there's something magical about Autzen Stadium. Go Ducks!
10. I am more excited to get a Parent magazine in the mail than a Self magazine.
9. I no longer have to worry about weight because I am either sharing my plate, don't have time to finish my plate, or I'm chasing two tiny legs around, that are faster than I'd ever imagined two tiny legs to be. 8. I've touched, smelled and yes, worn more poop than I'd like to admit. (And why is it, that after scrubbing my hands several times the poop smell still lingers?) 7. Instead of dreaming of a beautiful master bedroom with plush pillows and a crackling fireplace, I drool over beautiful playrooms from the Pottery Barn Kids catalog. 6. Watching my mini-me trick-or-treat is much more fun than any childhood memory I have. 5. I want to scream at every person who drives by our house more than 2 miles over the speed limit. 4. Going to places that once took 15 minutes, now takes 30 minutes. And getting out the door with everything packed makes me wanna give somebody a 'good game' pat. 3. Some nights a glass of red wine paired with some goldfish is the perfect after-school-snack (a.k.a. happy hour). 2. I now have over a dozen children's books memorized and I dream with visions of bears and dinosaurs dancing and singing in my head.
And the #1 reason I know my life has changed is seeing my husband, Kevin Widmer, dancing to Faith Hill's Sunday night NFL song. For those of you who know us, you know it is a rare occasion to see my husband on a dance floor. Over the years I've learned no amount of alcohol or even a good beat will do the trick. However, on this night I almost caught some footage of Kevin doing the "football dance." He's quick though...like a cat. I'll keep trying. Until now here is the remnants of the "football dance" with our daughter, who has caught on to her daddy's enthusiasm for football.
When we got home from Monterey last weekend, I started cooking dinner and Kevin played with the baby in the living room. Suddenly it got very quiet, so when I asked Kevin where the baby was, this was his reply.
This weekend Addie and I took a little road trip to Monterey to meet Auntie Pam. We had a great time chasing Addelyn Ann and her curious little legs all around Cannery Row. Thank you Auntie Pam for a great weekend!Scissor legs, right Auntie Pam?My sweet Auntie teaching Addie about the penguins. Addie looks very sweet in this picture, however, I must tell you that this was after a long day of chasing her through crowds at the aquarium, pitching a fit in a restaurant, running into a nearby store to try on several pairs of sunglasses, pausing to dance to street music, running up to strangers, dogs, etc. to say 'hi,' and climbing up and down the stairs over and over again (which I must hold her hand and go up and down the stairs with her). I was exhausted to say the least! When we returned home I found this along with a very clean house. I love him.
We had a good time trick-or-treating with our neighbors. Then came back home and passed out candy. Addelyn loved to come to the door with us and see all the costumes. She didn't even mind when we re-gifted her candy! Hee! Hee!
I found a doggie costume on clearance for Bentley that happened to be a cow. So we had two cows for Halloween!
Trying to get their faces in the same frame.
A not so successful attempt at a family pic. Oh well, almost!Come on guys, let's go trick-or-treatin'! Addie said "happy" all the way up to the doors. I think she was trying to say "Happy Halloween!" Cameron, a.k.a. Bam Bam, our next door neighbor. He is one month older than Addie and a very sweet boy. His word of the night was a very breathy "hiii."
One tired little baby cow. And I'll leave you with this little clip of our first year trick-or-treator.
