Last week Addie was battling the croup. She was absolutely pitiful. After Kevin and I did everything we knew to do for her, including several calls to the after-hours nurse and sleeping in her bedroom because her breathing sounded so scary, we finally had had enough and took her into the ER. The doctor was wonderful. He ordered her a steroid and although she fought all three of us (Kevin, the nurse and me) on taking the prednisone, which resulted in a shot, we all left feeling a little better. As parents, Kevin and I left with no regrets and felt immensely grateful that we have good medical insurance. And although it's not a perfect system, we are also grateful for the quality of our country's healthcare.
