My Dad has officially been retired since last summer and had been talking about coming down for quite sometime. So this last Friday we got a call that he was on his way with Terri, Rachelle and Austin. There was lots of giggling and playing, some Duck basketball and dinner, then they were on their way to southern California!

stepping stones

The other weekend both the kids were fighting off the flu, so we pretty much just hung around the house trying to help them feel better. There was lots of snuggling and t.v. watching, followed by a little bit of cabin fever. And that's when I decided it might be good to get outdoors and do a little backyard project. So...we made stepping stones!

cars

We reorganized the toys and got rid of the baby toys and replaced them with some of Addie's oldies. Liam took a liking to the cars and right now they are one of his favorite toys. He loves to crawl after them, when we wind them up and let them go!

the nursery

Last weekend someone asked me how old Liam was and I replied, "10 months." Then my heart sank as I thought about the change in months. In a matter of days my baby would be 11 months!

Now as I write this my sweet Liam is officially 11 months! He's one month away from being a year old! It is so bitter sweet.

I realized that I've never posted pictures of his nursery all complete. So for the last 11 months this is where I've changed him, rocked him, sang, played and read to him. I love this room. To me, it is much more than just a room, it's a place that has been his since the day we bought this home. As much as I've talked about wanting to move, it will be so hard to say goodbye to the house on Potrero Circle someday. It is where I brought both of my babies home.
The saying on his wall couldn't be more true.
We kept the bed in here for guests and will keep it in there for as long as we can. Then it's the air mattress or couch! Sorry.
One of my favorite places in the house, where I get to rock my baby to sleep.
I love that many people have had a hand in his nursery. Kevin put up this closet where there was once a built in desk, my Mom and Aunt Jan helped buy his bedding, Auntie Pam bought the sweet giraffe that soothes him to sleep every night, Grandma Jody gave us Kevin's old baby shoes I used for decor, and even Addie made a decoration for Liam's room, with the help of Kim, our babysitter.

saturday morning at home depot

something fun. something new. we'll be back!

from one tooth to six!

Liam has had one tooth since mid-December! Yes, just one! Finally mid-February the partner tooth broke through. Then last Tuesday night Liam seemed abnormally irritable and it continued into the next day. When I took a peek, I saw four teefers right there at the upper gum line! FOUR! Poor baby boy.
Oh, doesn't it just look painful! We are doing all that we know to do to keep him comfortable, including not taking any more pictures. The expression you see here though is frustration. Kevin is holding his hands down to prevent him from grabbing the camera lens. And I'm sure he didn't care for me pulling his lip up either. Sorry buddy.

wacky dress up day at preschool

She loved dressing up "wacky" for school! I had also been telling her that later this month I was going to get to help out in her classroom for the Easter party! She kept asking me, "Mom, is it Easter yet?" I thought maybe she was asking me because we had changed out our Valentine decorations to Easter decorations. But that morning she was just radiating and told some of the other parents on her way in to the classroom that she was so excited! When we got to the door and her teacher greeted her, she didn't go right in and kind of hesitated. Then she said, "Come on Mom!" She had confused wacky dress up day with Easter! Her little face made me so sad when she realized I wasn't staying. And secretly my heart melted knowing she was happy and excited for me to stay with her at school! Love this little girl!
